If you're a homeowner in Montgomery or Delaware County looking for home repair assistance, Habitat for Humanity MontDelco may be able to help. Our home repair program is designed to support residents who are unable to afford or perform critical repairs themselves. But before applying, it's important to understand the eligibility requirements and review process.

To qualify, applicants must currently live in the home, have resided there for at least one year, and plan to stay for at least two years after repairs are completed. You must also have a valid homeowner’s insurance policy and may need to verify that you're current on property taxes or mortgage payments depending on funding sources.

Basic Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for Habitat MontDelco’s home repair program, applicants must:

  • Must be unable to perform repairs themselves and/or be unable to pay someone to do the repairs.

  • Must be willing to partner with HFHMontDelco by upholding the terms of the program agreement with HFHMontDelco, and being responsive, helpful, and hospitable.

  • Must be a Montgomery Co. or Delaware Co. homeowner and currently reside in the home.

  • The homeowner must have lived in the home for a minimum of one year before applying. Homeowner must plan on living in the home for a minimum of two years after work is completed- **This may vary depending on funding sources utilized for repairs.

  • Have a current homeowner’s insurance policy in place for the home.

  • May need to verify that they are current on Property Taxes and/or Mortgage payments. ***This is dependent on funding sources anticipated for repairs***

Home Visit & Accessibility Requirement

A crucial part of the qualification process is a home visit to assess whether your home fits within our program capabilities. During this visit, Habitat staff must access key areas of your home to evaluate repair needs. If significant clutter or safety concerns prevent access, you may only be eligible for exterior repairs or, in some cases, may be denied based on policy. Each case is reviewed individually.

🔍 Note: Some homes may require additional reviews such as lead testing or environmental assessments, depending on the funding source.

Income Guidelines for Home Repair Assistance
